Walter Moffitt is Chief Architect of Viasat Government Services, a business segment of Viasat Government and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Viasat Inc., focused on delivering secure end-to-end managed network services to the U.S. Government via major programs.
Mr. Moffitt provides the Joint Force user perspective to Viasat Government Services, helping to define the path forward for commercial satellite communications and ensuring that Viasat’s future satellite architecture is in line with government user needs.
Previously, Mr. Moffitt served as Chief Architect of Inmarsat Government Inc. until the company’s acquisition by Viasat in May 2023. Prior to that, he was a career civil servant supporting the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) as the senior development chief responsible for radio frequency (RF) communications development and innovation for tactical line-of-sight radios, data links, and satellite communications systems and architectures over a period of 22 years. He also served in the United States Air Force as a tactical radio and satellite communications maintenance technician and operator for the Joint Communications Unit for 13 years.
Mr. Moffitt holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Methodist College.
