Unmanned Surface Vessels (USV)

Seamless Beyond Line-of-Sight Connectivity

With military operations increasingly dependent upon unmanned surface vessels (USV), government customers seek Inmarsat Global Xpress Ka-band and L-band Airborne Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (LAISR) solutions for superior high-bandwidth data communications and terminals with optimal size weight and power (SWaP), accommodated for sea conditions anywhere in the world.

Global coverage with regional depth

In oceans around the world, government maritime missions depend upon USVs to conduct mine countermeasures (MCM), search and rescue, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) and other operations. To ensure consistent global coverage with regional depth, peak performance and quick-surge capabilities, users leverage Inmarsat ELERA LAISR and Global Xpress Ka-band services via subscription plans with committed information rates, leases or steered capacity, including the Arctic region (scheduled for launch in 2023).

Flexible and highly available network

Our 24/7 networks deliver high-bandwidth, secure, bi-directional data communications and resilient terrestrial backhaul options for 99.9 percent satellite network availability – supported by redundant satellite access stations.

SWAP-optimized User Terminals

We optimize SWaP for sea conditions with a large selection of terminals, as light as 4.5 lbs. and including those that support return links in commercial and military Ka-band. We offer flexible service plans with up to 3.8 Mbps from the USV in L-band and up to 12 Mbps from the USV in commercial Ka-band.

Responsive service integration

And when our government customers are ready for service integration, we are there for them: our ecosystem of experienced in-house and partner USV SATCOM engineers respond rapidly to a wide range of mission and budget requirements.

Flexible service plans

Our flexible service plans provide up to 3 Mbps in L-band and up to 12 Mbps in commercial Ka-band. Inmarsat Military Ka-band services with terminals that are compatible with military satellite systems support return link up to 90 Mbps.

End-to-end managed service

Inmarsat services can be acquired as an end-to-end managed service. This unique, award-winning SATCOM as a Service capability offers mobile high-throughput connectivity the way each mission needs it: simple, affordable and operationally available – anywhere, anytime. SATCOM as a Service enables access to always-on broadband capability worldwide.
